How to configure the Phonebook entry
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Click the OK button.
- In the Name the new phonebook entry box, type
henricoschools.org.
- Check the box next to I know all about phonebook
entries and would rather edit the properties directly.
- Click the Finish button.
- Check the box next to Use Telephony dialing properties.
- In the Area Code box, type your area code.
- In the Phone number box, type your local access
number. Remember to
check with your local telephone company to make sure that the
number you choose is a local toll-free call.
- Uncheck the box next to Use another port if busy.
- Click on the Server tab.
- Uncheck the box next to Enable PPP LCP extensions.
- Click the TCP/IP Settings... button.
- Click the Specify name server addresses radio
button in the PPP TCP/IP Settings area.
- In the Primary DNS field, type 216.230.0.21.
- In the Secondary DNS field, type 216.230.0.22.
- Click the OK button.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Click the Accept any authentication including clear
text radio button in the Authentication and encryption
policy area.
- Click the OK button.
Reinstalling TCP/IP
Removing TCP/IP
- Click the Start button, point to Settings,
and choose Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Select the Protocols tab.
- Select TCP/IP.
- Click the Remove button.
- Click the Yes button.
- Click the Close button.
- You will be warned that you have an invalid RAS
configuration.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Yes button to restart your computer.
Adding TCP/IP
- Click the Start button, point to Settings,
and choose Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Select the Protocols tab.
- Click the Add button.
- From the list of Network Protocols, select
TCP/IP Protocol.
- Click the OK button.
- If you are asked whether you wish to use DHCP,
click the No button.
- You may be prompted for your Windows NT CD-ROM. Make sure
the path to the i386 directory on the CD is correct.
- Click the Continue button.
- If you are asked whether you would like to configure
RAS to support the TCP/IP protocol, click the OK
button.
- Click the Network button.
- Uncheck NetBEUI.
- Check TCP/IP.
- Uncheck IPX.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Continue button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click the Yes button to restart your computer.
Reinstalling RAS
Removing RAS
- Click the Start button, point to Settings,
and choose Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Select the Services tab.
- Select Remote Access Service.
- Click the Remove button.
- Click the Yes button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click the Yes button to restart your computer.
Adding RAS
- Click the Start button, point to Settings,
and choose Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Select the Services tab.
- Click the Add button.
- From the list of Network services, select Remote
Access Service.
- Click the OK button.
- You may be prompted for your Windows NT CD-ROM. Make sure
the path to the i386 directory on the CD is correct.
- Click the Continue button.
- From the RAS Capable Devices drop-down list, choose
your modem.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Configure button.
- Select Dial out only.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Network button.
- Uncheck NetBEUI.
- Check TCP/IP.
- Uncheck IPX.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Continue button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click the Yes button to restart your computer.
